Happy Saturday! I love Saturdays since it's my only day of the week to sleep in a little, but I also love Saturdays because it means it's time for another Inspiration challenge hosted by Stef on Splitcoaststampers. Today's inspiration piece comes from Faviana Prom Dresses at faviana.com.
Purple is one of my favorite colors, so I was immediately drawn to this magenta colored prom dress and pulled out a very old Stampin' Up stamp set called Haute Coutre. As I worked with this stamp set today, I wondered if anyone else still used this set. I know a lot of stampers retire old sets or sell them off, but I have such a hard time letting go of my stamps, thinking I just may want to use them again one day....such is the case today.
The card stock I used is this orchid colored Bazzill, as well as the magenta, dot-embossed card stock I used for the dress. I stamped the dress onto this beautiful card stock, cut it out and popped it up on dimensionals. I added Martha Stewart glitter to the bottom of the dress, as well as the shoe and purse images. I used my Slate Copic marker to color two of the small prima flowers, and I added small pearl beads to the flower centers.
Like most people, I have a few regrets in my life and one of them is that I never went to prom in high school. I was too busy working part-time, going to school, and dating a young man who had no interest in going to prom. However, had I gone, I would have loved to have worn a dress similar to this one! How about you? Did you go to your prom, and, if you did, what did you wear?

What a lovely ensemble!! Such a pretty color combination.
Sadly I didn't go to the prom either, I didn't have the money for a dress.
My Mom was so good with a needle and machine that she made all my Prom dresses, high school through college! My favorite was a white strapless slipper satin with a matching sleeveless coat in white brocade. Charlene, I almost used this set for the DARE this week! I love your IC card...the colors are wonderful!!
No, didn't go to the prom......darn!!However....if I did I am sure my mother would have made the gown. She was quite the seamstress in her day.
Love your purple fashion card...great work, my friend!!!
love your card Charlene ... no proms around here back when I went to school hehe!
Love the Purple Charlene, super pretty. --Isn't blogging fun!!!!!!!

Beautiful card - Charlene!!! Love all the purple and the image is perfect for today's IC!!!
I did go to my prom!! I still remember it, I went with my boyfriend of 4 years, and he never danced. We left before long, but hey, I went! My dress was a yellow dotted swiss and I actually wore my hair up and had a corsage.
Charlene, your card is elegant and cute at the same time! I remember this set and love it, too! Happy stamping, girlfriend! So glad to see you here!
I went to prom my Senior year. It is so different now. I made my dress back then. Now it is glitz and glam and money. Kind of sad. I love the purple. Great job on your new blog... I love the header.
What a beautiful card! LOVE those purples!!
I did go to Prom my senior year -- and wished I hadn't! It wasn't all the hype made it out to be.
I wore a light blue halter dress that was very modest - even though "halter" doesn't sound like it! I loved the dress.
What a beautiful dress in purple Charlene!! Gorgeous card. Love the sparkle.
So pretty in the purples Charlene! I love the glitter on the hem!
Welcome to blogland ... I love your classy inspired design.
Oooh!! Loving your purple dress Charlene! I didn't go to prom either for the same reasons! Did we miss anything?? It's so nice to be able to come to YOUR NEW blog and see what you've been up to!! You go girl!!
Love the purple and love that image. I understand about not selling retired stamp sets.. I mean, gosh, just because somebody else decides it's retired, doesn't mean that I will stop stamping with it..
About prom, my mom was also very gifted with the sewing machine.. My wedding dress was even made by a friend of hers.. And well, since I love music and dancing, and most of my good friends were boys, I attended 3 different proms, 3 ring dances and too many homecoming dances to remember.... ha! It was generally a 'group' sort of thing and only 1 of them was with a special someone... hhhmmmm.. What a fun walk down memory lane. I enjoyed them all, then again, I do love a good party - ha!
