If my little ditty doesn't make sense to you, check out Mothermark's Teapot Tuesday challenge on Splitcoaststampers to get the full gist of what she's up to this week.  The main theme is to bring at least three daisies, some bees, and even a birdie or two.  Don't bring trees, though, unless you want to enter the party through the back door.  The back door really isn't so bad; it just where all the rebellious tea potters prefer to enter.

Aint' she sweet?  My image, that is.  She's a girly-girl froggie with her glitterfied green eyelids, batting those long eyelashes at all the boy frogs as she hops along to the tea party.  Even the bees are happy to be buzzing along with her inhaling the sweet fragrance of her daisies.

My images are all by Rubbernecker (see supplies below) and colored with Copic markers.  I added lime green stickles to Froggie's eyelids and scattered straw stickles to the daisy centers.   In reality the sentiment is totally horizontal, but I wanted a circular sentiment panel.  Therefore, I used my black marker to highlight the words individually, cleaning the stamp in between, lining the sentiment up with my stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement.

Back in the Saddle Again

Howdy, Pahdners!  I hope everyone is having a whoopin' good time this fine Tuesday.   Speaking of Tuesday, it's time for the weekly Teapot Tuesday and Color challenges over at Splitcoaststampers (SCS)!  If you've never participated in the weekly challenges on SCS, it's a wonderful way to get the creative juices flowing.  And, it's so much fun seeing what everyone comes up with!

The Color challenge this week is to use Chocolate Chip, Old Olive and Vanilla.  The dessert option is to have one rounded corner in your design.  The Teapot Tuesday challenge is to use a horse in your design and include a flower somewhere. 

I chose to use this beautiful horse image designed by Theresa Momber from her Out West set (available at Gina K Designs).  I colored my horse with Copic markers (E19, E29, E35, E37, E49, E50, and E57).  I cut out the image and popped it up on a Very Vanilla oval panel.  For the flowers, I used my Martha Stewart hydrangea punch in Old Olive and Stampin' Up's double circle punch for the Ruby Red centers and glued those around the oval panel.  I cut out a larger Scalloped Oval (Nestability) panel in Very Vanilla and attached my image panel to that with pop-up dots for dimension.

The chocolate background was embossed with a paisley embossing folder.  The polkadotted Old Olive designer paper is from Stampin' up and was cut using the Topnote die.

For those of you who may not be aware, Cindy (aka Mothermark also known lovingly as da Mudder)always has a destination for the Teapot Tuesday cards.  (participating is stricly voluntary).  Our cards this week will be going to the daughter of a fellow Teapotter (Cathy, aka Mutnik).  Her daughter, Jessica, was thrown from her horse when he lost his footing on the trail they were on.  Jessica's fall fractured her skull in the back of her head, fractured her right temple and has two fractures on each side of her spine by her pelvis.  She has a long road to recovery, and her mother knows it would bring a smile to her daughter's face if she were to receive some happy mail that included horse images.

I chose to use the Hawaiin Vine (#537) image for my three different designs today in order to show you the versatility of this image.

For my first card, I kept it pretty simple.  I white embossed the image on Sahara Sand cardstock and used a q-tip and blender pen to add Tattered Rose Distress Ink to color the flower images.  I added pink Liquid Pearls to the flower centers.

Next up, I wanted to show you a more colorful way to use this image.  I stamped the vine image twice  in Tuxedo Memento Black to create a two-sided border.  I colored them with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol.  I added platinum Liquid Pearls to the centers and then circled the platinum pearls with a ring of pretty Charoite glitter by Martha Stewart.

For my last card, I combined this with Mothermark's Teapot Tuesday challenge on Splitcoaststampers.  This card, along with some stamping supplies, will be sent to a fellow SCSer, Ashley in Indiana, who lost all of her stamping supplies in a flood and has to start all over (How terrible:  can you imagine losing all you have?).  You can read the full story in the Teapot Tuesday forum under MMTPT139.

I used the Hawaiin Vine image on the tea cup I created (out of Nestabilities, oval punches, and MFT scallop border die), as well as on the background piece of white cardstock.  I kept it soft and subtle to go with the inspiration teapot in Mothermark's challenge.  I added a very light touch of watercoloring to the images on the tea cup, but kept the image in the background as is.

We also were instructed to use ribbon in our design, so I ruffled some white polkadotted ribbon on the top rim of the cup and used organdy ribbon to attach my heart-shaped teabag.

42,000 Cherries for Shari

42,000 cherries is what Bertie and I are bringing to the tea party today!!! You know what else comes with cherries, Mudder? Yup. Cherry pits. Bertie challenges you, da Mudder, to a cherry pit spittin' contest and anyone else who wants to play! We can pile them all up and use 'em fer flingin' later. Woo-hoo! Come one, come all. We're meetin' up by the back door under the cherry tree.

Yessirreee, I have 42,000 cherries on this card made for Shari. Shari is undergoing treatment for breast cancer and could use some cheering up.

This cherry image is by DeNami Design and happens to be an image I bought while visiting da Mudder in Colorado a few years ago.  We went to a stamping expo and DeNami Design had a huge booth there.  It was my first time seeing their stamps, and I was overwhelmed by the thousands of stamps they had.   I loved them, too!  Because of that trip and buying the stamp there, it's even more special for me that I can use this particular cherry image for Mudder's niece, Shari.  I colored my cherries with Copic markers, cut them out, and lacquered them. There are even cherries on what looks to be solid black cardstock. They are black embossed on the Rockabilly dp, but they're hard to see in the photo.

Gold Stemmed Rose

It always saddens me to learn about others who are so young and dealing with serious cancer.  Such is the case for Katie, a fellow stamper, who is a young mom with Stage 4 cancer.  Cindy Motherway has chosen Katie for our Teapot Tuesday Destination Station this week.  You can get more details by clicking on that link.  Perhaps you'd even like to participate and send Katie a card.

Cindy's inspiration teapot is one with beautiful roses on it with gold threaded throughout.  Here's how I was inspired.

I used Stampin Up's Floral Fusion Sizzlit for my rose, separating the layers with dimensionals and centering it with a white circle punch from the double circle punch.  The flower stem consists of gold flower brads.  The certainly celery leaves were made with my Cricut and the smaller garden green leaves are from the In Full Bloom set.  I already had this brilliant blue deckled frame in my stash.  I used the Polkadot background stamp for my white card base.  You can see it in the photo, but I embossed the white panel with a Diamond & Stars Impressability.  I'm not getting a good impression with them with either my Cuttlebug or my Big Shot even when I add shims.  If anyone has used these and knows how to get a good impression with them, I'd appreciate your telling me how you do.

From Summer to Fall to Christmas

I'm late to Mothermark's tea party this week.  My poor stepson was attacked by a dog Monday night (unprovoked), so hubby and I spent Monday night in the emergency room at the hospital with him and getting him in to see a plastic surgeon yesterday.   He's okay, but the dog bite tore away quite a lot of his flesh just above his eye so that neither stitches nor plastic surgery are alternatives for him right now.  He has eight stitches in the bite mark below his eye.  Fortunately, his eyeball and eyesight were spared any damage.

Anyhow, I did have an opportunity last night after work to finish making a card for Cindy's special tea party going on this week. She's joined forces with Cammie on her Alzheimer's Care Givers drive, so I didn't want to miss out on the opportunity to participate in this great cause.   Perhaps you'd like to join in.  If so, you can click on either of the links I've provided for further details.

I chose to make a round card using my largest scalloped circle Nestability.  I heat embossed my flowers with clear embossing powder by stamping the flowers first in versamark and then in the colored ink.  I love how the heat embossing adds texture and enhances the color of the ink.  After I set them with the heat embossing, I sponged So Saffron and Certainly celery over the flowers.  I didn't like how the Certainly celery looked, so I added some Wild Wasabi.  I still didn't like how it looked, so I added True Thyme and was finally happy with the outcome!  I used my round tab and circle punches for the little panel and finished off the card with this pretty blue pearls.  I didn't want to cover the flowers with much else, so I left it there.  You can get these great flower images from Rubbernecker under the Create a Garden Set 1.

I made my next card in honor of Sallie, aka hobbydujour on Splitcoaststampers, as she was chosen as the featured stamper this past Sunday.  I had a really hard time choosing which one of her amazingly gorgeous cards I wanted to case until I saw this leaf I made a few days ago laying on my table waiting to be used.  The maple leaf image is also available from Rubbernecker.  I had also scallop punched these four designer paper panels for the Free for All Challenge to use scallops on your card, but the gallery went down Friday night so I never finished it. Therefore, when I saw Sallie's gorgeous Autumn Leaf card, I knew I could bring all these elements together.

I used the baby wipe technique to color my leaf image. I did this by dropping the various colors of reinkers onto a baby wipe and using the baby wipe as my stamp pad. After I cut out the leaf, I outlined it with my chocolate chip marker for definition. My punched leaves were sponged with really rust and ruby red.

This last card is one I made in honor of sweet Carla, cmsuto on Splitcoaststampers, as she was chosen Queen for the Day last Friday.  Carla always makes beautiful cards.  I cased her gorgeous Mudlark Candle Set Inspired card.  Things I changed are stamps, colors, slight sketch alteration, and I added paper piercing.  Congratulations to Carla!  I love this fun holiday designer paper by Stampin' Up!  I stamped the inside of the card with a stamp from Gina K's Winter Foliage set.

Feline Fantasy Blitz

"Come on, Fritz!  Wake up!  The tea partiers are on their way to California today, and all the cool cats get to go with them, too!

Poor Nibbles.  He is just having a dickens of a time trying to get Fritz to wake up and get out of his new bed.  After having traveled from Texas to California, Fritz heard there was a place called Feline Fantasy World, so he ventured on over and hasn't been the same since.  Seems all he wants to do is sleep in his new bed and dream about all the kitty cat fantasies he saw there, just hoping they'll come true for him.

The Fast and the Furriest!!

My furry friends are off to the fast and furriest canine street race at the Raleigh Drift in Raleigh, NC today.

Da Mudder has asked all the tea partiers to bring dogs to the tea party today. She specifically requested “…racing dogs, spectator dogs, mechanic dogs, dogs on a news crew, dogs in a pit crew. We need dogs that can drive, dogs that high five, dogs that love bones, dogs with cell phones! We need dogs to keep score, dogs to sweep the floor. We need dogs that are nurses, we need dogs who sell purses. We need dogs that are sweet, we need dogs that can tweet! We need dogs to write a book, we need dogs that can cook! We need a dog for the head of promotion, and a dog to control all of the commotion! We need big dogs on the porch, we need dogs who can carry a torch! We need a dog that can howl and one that chases fowl! We need dogs that can bark and dogs in the dark. But most of all, we need dogs that are furry, dogs in a hurry, dogs that are fast, dogs who will last! Dogs that are The Fast and Furriest!”

These fellers heard there was a long, long, LOOOOONG waiting line at the local potty tree, so they thought they’d better bring their own fire hydrant to help out for when duty calls. I mean, did you see that line of pooches waiting in line to pee at the tree?!?!? You just know we’re gonna have at least one or two of these pooches with bladder problems and the mayor of Raleigh doesn’t want them peeing just anywhere. So, all you pooches who need to potty, feel free to lift a leg in the back of the hydrant when duty calls.

Today’s Destination Station is to zgirlsgranny’s life-long friend, Rachel, who has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Rachel loves dogs and recently had to give up her beloved Sheltie because of her illness. My pooches were colored with Copic markers and cut out.  The two outer dogs are popped up on dimensionals.  My fire hydrant was made using the small oval punch, corner rounder, 3/4" circle punch, and half of a large oval cut from my Coluzzle.  The cardstock is Ruby Red and the edges were sponged in Cherry Cobbler.  I saw this on Lauren Meader's blog eons ago and had printed out her instructions to use one day.  Today is that day! 

Tropical Birthday Birdie

It's all about the color this week.....bright, beautiful, tropical colors at da Mudder's tea party because we are headed to the rain forest to plan, carry out, and attend the 108th very colorful surprise birthday party for Miss Eula! You can read all about this amazing woman in the Teapot Tuesday Destination Station.

So, in honor of Miss Eula's 108th birthday and her zest for life and her parrot, Star, this tropical-wanna-be-parrot, Pascal, is flying all the way there to bring her balloons and a birthday banner. Pascal has a tendency to be a little wascal at times. You see, Pascal belongs to Miss Bertie and Miss Bertie has trained Pascal how to fling things. You can bet your bottom dollar that Pascal and Miss Bertie will be livin' it up in tropical paradise celebrating Miss Eula's birthday, sipping on pina coladas, and flinging colorful confetti-like bird seed! Squaaaaaaawk!

Shane the Dane

Meet Shane the Great Dane. Shane loves baseball but has a little issue with confidence in his ability to be a great baseball player. You see Queenie the Weenie is a tough, macho daschund who heads up the team and was barking orders to Shane the Dane to hit a home run for the team. Shane's tender heart just couldn't stand all that barking.

Enter Dwyer the Umpire giving Shane hugs of encouragement to run the bases as fast as he can, telling him to follow the paw prints. Now Dwyer knew he shouldn't play favorites among the baseball players, but he knows how soft hearted Shane the Dane is and his feelings are easily bruised whenever Queenie the Weenie barks at him. Therefore, Dwyer the Umpire felt compelled to run out to give Shane puppy hugs of encouragement and love, telling him that he could do it.

Armed with this love and support, big ol' lumbering Shane the Great Dane put that baseball stick in his mouth and hit the ball outta the ball park on the first pitch! Woo-hoo! He turned his baseball cap backwards and ran those bases with his head held proudly high and his tail waggin' to the beat of the band. When his paw touched the home base, scoring the 42,000th run for his team, he cried tears of joy. He jumped up and placed his paws on Dwyer's shoulders, knocking him to the ground, and slobbered him with wet doggie kisses out of gratitude.

I made this card as a part of Teapot Tuesday on Splitcoaststampers for a ten year old boy, Andrew, who  has multiple brain tumors and is not doing so well right now. He loves baseball and loves his fellow team members. And they love him! They are so good to Andrew that they all shaved their heads in his honor and are referring to themselves now as the Elm Grove *Bald* Eagles!

My baseballs were made with the 1/2" circle punch, and I drew the stitches with a marker.  The bases were made with the spiral punch with the ends snipped off.

My bird and flowers were colored with Twinkling H20s; the center of the flowers and dots on the bird's shower cap were colored with pretty purple Smooch Broom sent to me (thanks, Hilda!); the bird bath was paper-pieced with SU dp; the sky was watercolored with bashful blue; and the grass and flower stems were colored with reinkers and blender pen.  I applied Lavender glitter to my faux brads (1/4" circle punch).

Hope to see you at da tea party today!  Bertie is movin' and a-groovin' to the tunes and flingin' soap bubbles today, so you're guaranteed not to get hurt or dirty!

Tuesday's Tea and Color on Wednesday

Happy Hump Day, my friends!  I'm happy because my husband's eye surgery this morning went well.  We go back to see the surgeon in the morning to get his bandages removed and learn further details on the condition of his eye and prognosis for his eyesight, but the initial report looks good!

I made this card yesterday for the Teapot Tuesday and Color challenges on Splitcoaststampers, but I'm just now getting a chance to put it up on my blog.  Philsmom was the Teapot Tuesday hostess and had this cute teapot for our inspiration (scroll down to post #8 after clicking on the link to see the teapot).  This is a gel card to simulate bubbly water.  You put just a tad of clear hair gel into a baggie. ...kinda cool, huh?  There's a great tutorial on Splitcoast here if you want to try this technique yourself.

These goofy lookin' fishies are a great stamp by Rubbernecker.  There are lots of fun fish stamps and sentiments to choose from.

I used my Copic sketch markers to color the fish and then I added stickles and glitter pen touches to each one.  Real Red, Kraft, and Bermuda Bay were the color challenge colors on SCS.  I had to substitute Cool Caribbean for the Bermuda Bay.  I made my matted frame with rectangle Nestabilities.

Playing Catch Up

I haven't had much time to blog lately, so I'm playing catch up with a few cards I've made in the past few days.

Today is Teapot Tuesday, and Barbara20 is hostessing for Mothermark this week.  She's got a fabulous nautical-themed teapot she's given us for our inspiration this week.  You can get the details here.  This is a one-layer card.  I brayered all the various colors to create my sand, ocean, and sky.  I used my Cricut Life's a Beach cartridge for the ship, lighthouse, sand dollar, and starfish.  I used Liquid Applique for the water's foam.

My next card is in honor of my friend and fellow Rubbernecker DT member, Cathleen (aka ctorina), who was chosen as the featured stamper on Splitcoast this past Sunday.  Cathleen makes such elegant and beautiful cards.  It was an honor to case her.  After I settled on wanting to use Blush Blossom, I knew I was going to have to make my own designer paper, which I love to do. I stamped Baroque Motifs and Linen bg in Blush Blossom and then finger walked French Script in True Thyme over that. I used my finger dauber in Blush Blossom reinker to sponge the edges of each piece of cardstock.

This last card I made for the Inspiration Challenge this past Saturday.  I used a napkin transfer technique.  This is where you split the top layer of the napkin from the back, place it on the shiny side of freezer paper, put a piece of paper on top of the napkin and press with a hot iron.  The napkin sticks to the freezer paper.  Then you can adhere this to a piece of cardstock.   I love these napkins I bought at Michael's.

Bold and Bright

Hello, ya'll!  I hope you've been having a splendiferous weekend.  It's raining here this morning, but that's okay.  Everything is so lush and green this time of the year, and I love it! 

I wanted to post a couple cards I made yesterday.   I had some time to play in a couple Splitcoaststamper (SCS) challenges and both cards are bright and bold so prepare your eyes!

First off is a card I made to honor Carol (aka Carol_PA925) as Queen for the Day.  This is where you go and select one of the Queen's SCS gallery creations and make your own version of it.  Carol's bold and beautiful Red Birthday Floral really called to me.

I didn't get time to play in one of my favorite challenges----Teapot Tuesday----last week, so I made this card for that challenge as well, which was to use daisies in your creation.  I love these Gerber daisy images.  They can be a little labor intensive to cut out, but it is so worth it for the added dimension.  You can't see it very well in my photo, but I did score a grid pattern on the red cardstock with my ScorPal. I colored the center of my daisies with Adirondack Butterscotch ink with one of my finger daubers (love those things!).  The leaves are from Stampin' Up's In Full Bloom set which I water colored with Mellow Moss and Always Artichoke reinkers.

My next card was made for the Inspiration challenge on SCS.  Anne was our hostess this week and she provided us with a really jazzy website for our inspiration called.....Jazz It Up Interiors.  If you scroll down on my link, you'll see the hot pink wall art canvas that begged me to make something from it.

I stamped my Pick a Petal image in Pink Passion ink onto white cardstock and then onto Pink Passion cardstock and cut them out. I ran the darker petals through my crimper. I punched the little flowers from Pink Passion cardstock and sponged the edges for depth. I used my double circle punch on Rich Razzleberry for all the tiny circles piled in the center of the flower as well as for the orange centers on the small pink flowers.  The little purse/sentiment image is from Stampin' Up's Tag Time.  I used my black marker to add some tiny dots around the outer edges of the flower petals.  Last, I added these larger black eyelets with my Cropadile.

Okay, hubby and son were up very late last night watching movies (my night owls for sure), so they are still asleep.  Think I'll hop on over to SCS and play in the featured stamper challenge while they are snoozing.  After all, how can I run the vacuum while my precious family sleeps?  Giggle.  Come on over if you have time to play!

Frizzle da Dizzle

Well, rock my socks, da Muddermark has the tea potters takin' rappin' lessons this week at Teapot Tuesday with Frizzle da Dizzle!  Cockadoodledoooooooo!  I sure hope you kin join in on the fun with all of us!

How I Made Mudder the Rapper:

Fabulous 50s record image by Rubbernecker stamped in Memento Black and covered with Crystal Effects for shine.  I used an oval Nestability for the body and a Labels Ten for her head.  The boho blossoms punch was used for her comb; the flower punch for her feet and side-arm feathers; circle punches for the eyes and record; modern label punch behind the record; star punch for her nose; polkadotted silk flower for her cape around her neck.  She won't be given her wattles, though, until she attains star status in the rap industry.  I hand wrote the record label.

Life is Caaaa-rrraaaazy!

Man, oh, man!  Where do the days go?  They just fly by anymore.  I haven't had time to keep my blog updated this past week, so I thought I'd share a few projects I've made but didn't get uploaded starting with the most recent and working back to last Friday.

Tuesday of this week, was Mothermark's Teapot Tuesday and she showcased the cutest crossword puzzle teapot.  I had purchased this birdhouse at one of my local hobby stores quite some time ago and decided it would be perfect for altering for this challenge!  After I painted it with white acrylic paint, I covered it with designer siding using a crossword puzzle  I copied out of my local newspaper.  I used SU's largest oval punch and Cuttlebug embossing folder to create my rooftop.  The little flowers and "for you" sentiment are SU rub-ons.  The bird is a QuickKutz die.

On Sunday, my friend Cathy (aka Mutnik) and fellow Rubbernecker DT member, was chosen as the Featured Stamper on SCS!  Here's the cute I Smell Chocolate card of Cathy's that I cased, obviously changing mine to cows in Cathy's honor of her love of cows.  She is one mega-talented artist!  The cows are SU's Very Punny, and my grass and flowers were created with my Kittie Kits Cause a Scene by Rubbernecker.

MarilynPrestonn was Queen for the Day on SCS.  I cased her adorable bee card changing mine to these hilarious fishies by Rubbernecker.  I colored them with my Twinkling H20s and gave them googlie eyes.

For those of you who know me, and Sheri (ksnurse) obviously does, you know I love penguins!  I just think they are such cute little creatures and just watching them walk their goofy walk makes me giggle.  Sheri sent me these darling penguins she created with her Cricut for my birthday this year.  Stef, over at SCS, had us go to the cutestfood.com website for the Inspiration Challenge on Saturday and I chose the penguin egg for my inspiration piece.

Grapes of Laugh

Well dagnabit! It looks like Bertie led me astray for the tea party this week! She told me we were bringing grapes to today’s party.

When I came to upload my card, I read da Muddermark’s story for Teapot Tuesday that we’re actually going to the Galapogos Islands in South America where we'll be riding giant tortoises and that we’re to bring shoes for Flat Footed Booby Ruby (where does da Mudder come up with these names???). I was so upset with Bertie that I just wanted to throw my grapes away!! However, Bertie was very contrite and apologetic. She’s really gone out of her way to try to calm me down. She told me that it’s actually a good thing that Booby Ruby is flat footed because her feet won’t fit in all those shoes the other tea partiers are bringing anyway and, furthermore, Booby Ruby’s flat feet will be perfect for smooshing grapes for wine! Bertie wanted to make it even more fun for us, so we took grape smooshing lessons with Lucy in Italy. You can see Bertie here in the vat with Lucy:

See that button covered in fine yarn in the upper left corner? It is a button I discovered in an old sewing basket that had belonged to my mother-in-law. I found the basket in my closet. This part of my card is for an Inspiration challenge on Stamp TV. I added a purple rhinestone to the center of it.

After I colored and cut out my grapes, I stamped the image in Versamark and heat embossed with Glassy Glaze for a richer, shinier color.

Love for Lindsay

I made this quilt-like card for several challenges. Betty and Cindy are combining the Color and Teapot Tuesday challenges today.  Mothermark's Teapot Tuesday challenge can be seen here for the full story. Betty's color challenge is to use Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, and Melon Mambo (Pink Passion), and Jen's CAS challenge from yesterday to layer two different shapes (mine are octagons and hearts). Most importantly, I made this card for Lindsay. You can read about Lindsay's story in the Love for Lindsay thread on Splitcoast.

I stamped, cut, and layered three of the hearts. I don't have Pink Passion dp, so I used some of my background stamps for those two panels. I also used my ScorPal to score the background for a quilt-like effect.
